Caring for vegetable-tanned leather
Water marks fade, heat makes them permanent. The whole maintenance routine is ten minutes, twice a year, with one product.

Do: wipe with a dry cloth weekly, condition twice a year, store it stuffed and upright, and let it dry away from a radiator when it gets wet.
Do not: use saddle soap on a pigmented finish, put it in a plastic bag, or treat a scuff with a coloured cream before the leather has had a week to settle.
If the leather feels dry at the folds, it is telling you it is time. A thin coat of neutral balm, worked in with a finger, is enough. More is worse than none.
